Beyond Sound: Communication Strategies for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing NF2-SWN Community

NF Northeast invites you and a guest to an immersive, in-person workshop where you’ll learn about (and experience) various communication strategies & resources to use while living with hearing loss. Whether you’re navigating NF2-SWN associated hearing loss or supporting someone who is, this program will offer valuable insights into accessible communication methods and empowering resources.

This interactive program blends expert insight with hands-on exploration. Highlights include:

• • Discussion of latest NF2-SWN therapies by Dr. Brad Welling (Massachusetts Eye and Ear) and Dr. Lauren Weintraub (Albany Medical Center)
  • Patient panel sharing personal experiences with assistive communication tools including lip reading, smart glasses, mobile apps, service animals, and more
  • An “Experience Lab” for trialing or exploring cutting-edge communication technologies and resources
  • Breakout sessions for patients and caregivers
